Goal
This article explains how you can upload a file into Pacer then create a link to that file on a baseline task. This is effective because if the file ends up changing in the future, you have the ability to overwrite the file and replace it with the updated version in just one spot. Doing that, will update the link on all tasks associated with this baseline file and redirects the user to the most updated file.
This is different than adding a file directly to a task. A Baseline File provides a link to a file where attaching a file to a task, adds that file directly. You can view the article here on how to attach a file to a task.
How To
Adding a File to Pacer
Navigate to Admin > Template Files
This page displays all files that have been uploaded to Pacer. In the top right corner there is a button for Add New. Clicking here will open a drawer on the right hand side of the screen.
It's required to enter a file Name and it's associated Project. It's optional to add a description and an associated department.
Adding a File to a Baseline Task
When viewing your baseline tasks (Admin > Baselines > tasks) click the Show More option in the bottom left of the task detail drawer. You'll see an option for Add Link from Baseline Files. When selected, a drop down menu will appear where any file that is uploaded to Admin >
Updating a template file
Navigating to Admin > Template Files you can select any file and overwrite an the file or delete the file.
