Goal
If you're importing many tasks at once, you'll find it helpful to use our import tool. After you've created your baseline you'll see in the top right menu next to the blue "Add task" button there is an import button. When you make this selection you'll be prompted with 3 steps, the first step being to download the import tool.
How to Get an Import Tool
There are a few Baseline Import Tools available to use. There is a large import tool that offers many different fields (links, steps, tags, etc.) and two streamlined versions which offer less values to import but you can add these additional values at any time after the upload process is complete. The two additional streamlined versions also are designed to have individuals choose between setting up tasks to be completed relative to Zero Date or Static Dates (due dates that never changed and are assigned a calendar date). We always recommend the relative days baseline as those tasks will update with your zero date.
To get the large import tool with all features available
Navigate to Admin > Task Templates | Baselines > click on any baseline and in the upper right corner there is a button labeled "Import" click here and the first step is to download the file.
To get either of the streamlined Baseline Import Tools
Navigate to the Company Overview page. In the Multi-Team Projects section there is a tile labeled "Create New Multi Team Project". Follow this project wizard and it will guide you to both variations of the baseline import tool.
How To
There are many columns on this import tool but you'll find a few columns in which the headers are colored red. These red columns are mandatory for the import to be successful. These mandatory columns are
- Task Name - What needs to be done?
- Baseline Job title - Who normally does this task?
- Department - Where should it show up in graphs and reporting?
- Days Out/ Static Date- How many days prior to the completion of this project should this task be done? / What date, no matter what, should this task be completed?
- Community - What group of people should see this task?
- Milestone - Does missing this task impact the opening?
A column has been added to the baseline import tool for Tag. It includes a dropdown box with the Task Tags you’ve added in Admin > Task Config > Task Tags. If you are adding tags via the baseline import tool, you can only add one tag at a time. After you've done the upload you can always go back into Pacer and add more tags per task.
